The "Kamel Kerrar" case, the "suicide" victim found dead, with his feet and hands tied, in December 2014 in the Deûle in Douai (north), has not yet been solved. The French justice system is in the sights of his family, who accuse it of wanting to bury the case.
After five years, the French justice system has not been able to solve the case of the "suicide" victim with his feet and hands tied. Kamel Kerrar’s family still does not know what happened to this 40-year-old man found dead on December 26, 2014 in the Deûle, with his feet and hands tied, reports Le Parisien.
Before going to his meeting with the investigating judge in Douai (Nord) last Friday, the family’s lawyer learns of the transfer to Lille of the investigation opened after his complaint of March 25 for destruction of evidence.
"The decision was made on March 29. But we were only informed on November 7. The aim is clearly to bury this case," fumed the counsel.
For his part, Frédéric Teillet, the Douai prosecutor, acknowledges: "We could have informed the Kerrar family’s lawyer of this transfer earlier." Then he assured that he was "at the disposal of the Kerrar family".
Faced with the situation, the Kerrar family has requested that the investigation into Kamel’s death also be transferred to Lille.
"No one is trying to find out what happened to my brother and everyone is trying to smother this story to cover themselves up. Yet we are asking for something basic: a serious investigation and the truth..." laments Abdelhafid Kerrar. He intends to organize a new white march at the end of the month.
