Moroccan Engineer Found Dead in Paris Hotel, Family Seeks Answers

Moroccan engineer on a work assignment in France, Reda Amine, 26, is found dead in his hotel room in Evry, in the Paris region. His family, who refutes the thesis of suicide as the cause of his disappearance, demands "a thorough investigation and evidence".

"I was online with him just a few minutes before his death," the young engineer’s mother, who lives in Morocco, tells Hespress. When Reda Amine returned to his hotel on January 30, 2020, where he had been staying for about four days, he called his mother and then his fiancée to wish them goodnight.

Without news of Reda the next day, his mother decides to call him. "That’s when I learned of his death. [...] At first I thought it was because of the gas," she says. In turn, the victim’s sister contacted the police and the French Ministry of the Interior. "I contacted them very quickly, but they made me wait. It was only on January 31 that they told us it was a suicide," she says.

Neither the mother nor the sister of the aeronautical engineer believe this version. "My son was always positive; I don’t know how he could have committed suicide... We have to find the truth," insists the victim’s mother. She is surprised that her son’s computer disappeared that night, without the police providing any explanation. "He had a very high IQ; he was very good in his studies and his work, and he loved life and aspired to build his future. [...] We therefore demand a thorough investigation and evidence," she insists.
