Body of Missing Franco-Algerian Journalist Found in French Field, Autopsy Pending

Missing since the end of July, it is finally the body of the Franco-Algerian journalist, Khaled Melhaa, which was found in a fallow area, far from the road axes in France. The autopsy is awaited to identify him, as he was found in a field in Villemoirieu, a commune located about twenty kilometers north of Bourgoin-Jallieu (Isère).
Sad news plunges the Melha family into mourning. It is the discovery a month after his disappearance of the body of the Franco-Algerian journalist. Le Parisien reports that the first elements of the investigation allow to partially identify the body, pending the details of the autopsy in the next few days. For the Prosecutor’s Office, the body found bears "no trace of violence or third-party intervention".
His family maintains that in addition to his Alzheimer’s disease causing orientation problems in space, the 64-year-old journalist no longer showed any visible signs of illness. Before disappearing, reports the same source, the Franco-Algerian had left the vacation home of his wife in Chozeau on July 31 and had not given any news before being found dead four kilometers away.
Khaled Melhaa, founder of Radio Beur, now Beur FM, worked for Le Monde and the Algerian daily, El Watan. He also participated in the first Beurs march for freedom.
With a captivating pen, Khaled Melhaa worked a lot on the "Malik Oussekine" case, named after the young Parisian killed during the student demonstrations of 1986, recalls historian Benjamin Stora, and a friend of the deceased. At the time, Khaled Melhaa had formed "with Malik’s brother, a Committee for Justice and Truth on this case," he adds.
