Murdered Moroccan Woman Wafaa Sebbah Laid to Rest in Spain, Family Finds Closure

Wafaa Sebbah, the young Moroccan murdered in 2019 by a criminal from Carcaixent (province of Valencia), was buried on Sunday in the Muslim cemetery of Alsalam in Chiva. About a hundred people were present at this funeral to show their solidarity with the grieving family.

Wafaa’s parents, Soraya and Nabil, and one of her brothers, received condolences from friends and neighbors who came to support them and pay tribute to the deceased, and thanked them for this gesture of solidarity. "The body of a loved one listens to us when it enters the cemetery. We will finally be able to talk to our daughter," Nabil confided to Las Provincias, a few minutes before the burial.

The imam of Bétera led the Muslim prayer in front of this group of men and women who made the trip to take part in the funeral of the young woman murdered in November 2019. The mayor of Pobla Llarga, Neus Garrigues, several teachers from the Doctor Sanchis Guarner college that Wafaa attended, lawyer Jesús Ruiz, in charge of the case, and several other personalities paid a final tribute to Wafaa.

Wafaa’s parents are demanding justice for their daughter’s death. They are asking the justice system to sentence the perpetrator of the crime to the maximum penalty. "We know he will get out of prison one day, but our daughter will never come back," Nabil said.

The alleged criminal, David S., was arrested on June 16, 2021 by the Civil Guard, after several months of investigation. Wafaa’s body was found the same day in a well on a farm belonging to the detainee’s grandparents. The latter had thrown it there since November 2019 when he had killed her.
