Moroccan Teen Killed in Spain to be Buried in Hometown After Repatriation

The body of Khaoula, the 14-year-old Moroccan girl killed in Jaen, Spain, was repatriated on Thursday to Beni Ayat, after a Muslim prayer held on Tuesday in the Great Mosque of Jaén. Her funeral will take place tomorrow, Friday.
Pending the elucidation of the case, Khaoula’s body was repatriated on Thursday to Morocco. The transfer operation was handled by the Moroccan consulate in Spain. Rafik Es Soufi, the cousin of Hakima, the victim’s mother, told Alcala La Real Informacion that a Muslim prayer was organized on Tuesday in the Great Mosque of Jaén. The teenager’s burial will take place on Friday, February 25 in Beni Ayat, about 300 kilometers south of Rabat.
"We are still evaluating how to prepare the defense. Several lawyers have offered to take on the case," Rafik also said, renewing the family’s thanks and gratitude to the Moroccan community in Alcala for the support, warmth and love they have received in these difficult times.
Khawla Elhaiba Zeroil was found dead on February 15 in an abandoned church in Alcala La Real (Jaén). Her alleged murderer, who alerted the police after his crime, has been detained and an investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the young Moroccan’s death.
