Wednesday 1 February 2023, by Sylvanus

The Moroccan police have arrested a man wanted for the murder of Robert Powell in Essex three years ago. Pending his extradition to the United Kingdom, he has been placed in detention.

Suspected of the murder of Robert Powell, 50, a father of three, shot dead on Water Lane, Roydon, in June 2020, Nana Oppong, 42, was arrested in Morocco for the offenses of murder, possession of a firearm with the intent to endanger life and involuntary injury, reports EssexLive. He is the subject of an international arrest warrant under an Interpol red notice.

Informed of his arrest, the Essex authorities have requested the extradition of the suspect to the United Kingdom. Nana will remain in prison throughout the extradition procedure. The staff "worked day and night to obtain justice for Robert’s family," said Detective Superintendent Stephen Jennings, who led the investigation.
