US Mourns Moroccan Boy Rayan, Praises Heroic Rescue Effort
The United States presented its condolences to Morocco on Monday for the death of Rayan, who accidentally fell into a well, particularly saluting the dedication of the rescue teams.
Since Saturday evening, tributes have been pouring in from around the world. The United States has also joined the international solidarity to express its compassion to the family of the little boy.
Thus, State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement: "Today, we mourn with the Moroccan people as they mourn the tragic death of 5-year-old Rayan Oram, who died after falling into a well in the northern region of the country last week - despite a heroic four-day rescue operation."
And to add: "Like millions of people around the world, we have been impressed by the dedication of the rescue team and the solidarity of the Moroccan people as they nurtured hope for Rayan’s survival. We offer our deepest condolences to Rayan’s family and to all Moroccans."
Thousands of Moroccans bid farewell to the little boy on Monday, in the commune of Tamorot.
