Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe Eyes Marseille Midfielder Ounahi for Summer Transfer
Coach José Mourinho wants to draw from Ligue 1 to build his squad. The Portuguese manager has made Azzedine Ounahi, the Olympique de Marseille midfielder, one of his targets for the summer transfer window. The Turkish club is thus positioning itself as a direct competitor to Brighton on this matter.
The interest in the Moroccan international is explained by his return to form during his loan to Panathinaikos last season. In Greece, the player regained a central role and convincing statistics, with 5 goals and 7 assists in 37 matches played across all competitions. This full season has logically allowed the former Angers player to once again attract the interest of several European teams.
It is in this context that Fenerbahçe has decided to accelerate. According to information from the Turkish media Sporx, the Istanbul club has made a concrete transfer offer to OM. The approach would have been directly validated by José Mourinho, who is said to be attracted by Ounahi’s technical profile and creativity to animate the midfield of his new team.
On Marseille’s side, the management would not be closing the door to a transfer. Although the player is under contract with the Phocaean club until 2027, his time at OM before his exile in Greece did not meet expectations. Consequently, a financial proposal deemed satisfactory could convince the Marseille leaders to part with a player whose potential has never been fully exploited within the squad.
