Mother and Daughter Arrested in Morocco for Teen's Death, Initially Reported as Suicide

The judicial police of Youssoufia referred to the Attorney General of the King near the Court of Appeal of Safi a mother and her daughter accused of having killed a 15-year-old teenager. A trivial dispute between the victim and his sister (one of the accused) is at the origin of this drama.

The police were informed that the victim had been taken to the hospital when he was already dead and that his father would have told the medical team that his son had committed suicide. Questioned, the man admits to having received the information from his wife and daughter. But they had difficulty supporting the suicide theory in front of the police investigators. Nothing on the victim’s body was consistent with this. Cornered by the police, they finally admitted that it was an "involuntary homicide", reports the daily Al Massae.

According to the initial elements of the investigation, the victim was reproaching his 18-year-old sister for her late returns home. He would have then given her a punch in the belly, but she retaliated by sending a kick to his private parts and he lost consciousness. On waking up, the dispute started again and in a fit of anger, the sister strangled her brother with a plastic bag in the presence of their mother who would have helped her to silence the victim definitively.

It was in trying to muddy the waters that they told the father that the teenager had committed suicide. But the investigators noted bruises on the victim’s genitals, and the contradictions in the statements of the two accused led the police to definitively rule out the suicide theory.
