Mosque Altercation in Morocco: Imam Accused of Assaulting Muezzin After Prayer
A violent brawl broke out between an imam and a muezzin in a mosque in Témara. Injured, the latter ended up at the hospital with broken teeth and bruises on his face.
A simple altercation between the imam and the muezzin turns into a violent assault after a prayer. The former punched his colleague, reports Assabah. The muezzin has broken teeth and some bruises on his face. He was taken to the hospital.
Witnesses to the scene blame the imam for always treating the muezzin with contempt, while refusing to work with him. The victim filed a complaint against his alleged aggressor. An investigation has been opened and entrusted to the Témara police services.
The delegation of Habous and Islamic Affairs of Skhirat-Témara was informed of the assault. Parties have tried to reconcile the two antagonists. In this sense, several people went to Ain Aouda, the plaintiff’s hometown, trying to convince him to give up the ongoing legal action.
