Moroccan Imam Mistakenly Declared Dead Reappears, Exposing Hospital Error

A few days after burying the remains of an imam believed to have died from Covid-19, his family realizes that he is still alive and recovering slowly from the virus for which he had been taken to the hospital.
An incredible story that lays bare the administrative errors in hospitals. This is the imam of the Dalia mosque in Marrakech. Infected with the coronavirus, his health deteriorated rapidly, forcing his relatives to take him to the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center (CHU), in the hope that the doctors there would save his life.
But a few days later, they learned of his death and went to collect the body. While this family believed they had buried the imam, they received a rather surprising phone call, reports the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
Surprised not to receive any more visits from his family, the imam called his relatives to complain about their absence and lack of compassion in this difficult situation. What a shock it was to find that the one they had buried was indeed alive and recovering from his illness.
Once the shock had passed, the family went to the hospital to understand what had happened and especially to know whose body they had been given as that of the imam. According to the newspaper, the body they had recovered and buried was that of a young man in his thirties, admitted to the hospital a week before Eid Al-Adha and who did not survive.
The imam’s name was attributed to the deceased young man, and as the identity of a person who died of Covid-19 cannot be verified, the family was satisfied with the information they were given at the hospital.
