Morocco’s World Cup Team Raises Palestinian Flag, Draws Hezbollah Praise
The tribute paid by the Moroccan team to Palestine, after the resounding victory against Spain, was welcomed by Hezbollah, which congratulated the Atlas Lions for this solidarity.
During the celebration of the feat against La Roja, the Moroccan players raised a Palestinian flag alongside several Moroccan flags, the latest sign of solidarity with the Palestinians. This gesture was appreciated by Hezbollah.
Similarly, in the 48th minute of the Morocco-Belgium match, Moroccan supporters had unfurled a banner "Free Palestine". They also displayed Palestinian flags and wore Palestinian scarves on their shoulders.
Reacting through the voice of its deputy leader Sheikh Naim Qassem, the Islamist movement addressed its congratulations to the Atlas Lions. "You won when you qualified for the quarter-finals and raised the Palestinian flag," he wrote on Twitter.
"We love you, O lions," the leader concluded, congratulating Palestine for having such Arab supporters. On Saturday, Morocco repeated the feat against Portugal after a goal scored by En-Nesyri, which propels them into the semi-finals against the French team. Several Moroccan players waved the Palestinian flag after the victory.
