Arab World Cup Teams Face Calls for Palestine Armband Solidarity

A hashtag calling on the captains of the Arab teams participating in the 2022 Qatar World Cup to wear an armband in the colors of Palestine has gone viral on social media.
On Twitter, Internet users have created the hashtag: "#شارة_الكابتن_فلسطينية (the captain’s armband must hold the Palestinian flag) which has quickly spread on social media. They are calling on the Arab teams set to participate in the 2022 World Cup, which will take place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18, 2022, to change their captains’ armbands to show their support for the Palestinians.
"If some European teams wore certain badges for their team leaders at the next World Cup, why wouldn’t the Arab teams wear the Palestinian flag as an armband for their captains during the World Cup football matches?" commented the famous commentator and host Ayman Jada on Twitter.
In recent days, some European countries have decided that the captains of their teams will wear the Ukrainian flag to show their support for Ukraine, invaded by Russia on February 24, 2022. The captains of the teams of France, England, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Wales and Switzerland will wear an "One Love" armband adorned with a heart in the colors representing the LGBTQ+ community to mobilize against all forms of discrimination targeting this community.
