Morocco’s World Cup Success Boosts Diplomatic Clout in Arab World and Africa

Morocco’s remarkable participation in the World Cup in Qatar has allowed it to strengthen its position in the Arab world and also to assert its presence on the international stage.
Football has the gift of opening closed doors. Hezbollah, very critical of Morocco since the normalization with Israel, was not insensitive to the wink made by the Moroccan players and supporters by displaying the Palestinian flag. Even in Algeria, the population could not help but celebrate Morocco for the pride given to the Arab world, reports TelQuel.
According to Professor Moncef El Yazghi, a specialist in sports policies, Morocco used football to strengthen its diplomacy in Africa. The exploits of the national team and the image projected by the Moroccan supporters have given visibility to the kingdom and in all sectors of activity such as tourism, real estate, hotels and of course sport.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, this World Cup has generated "an unprecedented interest in Morocco", even if the corruption scandal allegedly in the European Parliament in which Morocco is cited, could be an obstacle.
Many players in the hotel industry are expecting nice surprises at the end of the year, especially from tourists who did not know the Moroccan destination before the World Cup.
