Morocco’s World Cup Heroes Top National Poll for 2022 Personalities

The poll of personalities of the year was conducted by the Moroccan Press Agency (MAP) among 300 journalists. Walid Regragui was elected for having led the Atlas Lions to the semi-finals of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, and for having won the CAF Champions League with WAC in May 2022 and the Moroccan championship title.

As for Hakim Ziyech, the reasons for which the choice was made on him are different, even if he performed well during the competition. The Chelsea midfielder was mainly chosen for his charitable works for underprivileged families and associations. He is said to have always donated his participation bonuses to poor families.

Six different categories were submitted to the poll. In "Politics and Governance", Fouzi Lekjaa was chosen for his good governance of public finances and Moroccan football. In the "Economy and Finance" category, Bank Al Maghrib won the title of institution of the year 2022 for the efforts made despite the global economic situation.

In the field of "Arts and Culture", Moroccan producer Nadir Khayat (alias RedOne), was elected personality of the year for having produced the four official songs of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. At the "Media, Communication, Internet and Social Networks" level, the title of personality of the year goes to Moroccan YouTuber Ihssane Benalluch who won the "Best Influencer" award in the Arab world.
