Morocco Women’s Team Edges Closer to Olympic Qualification with 2-1 Win over Zambia

The Moroccan women’s national team achieved a good result by winning 2-1 against Zambia on Friday, in the first leg of the fourth and final round of the African qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Zambians put pressure from the start, but the Atlas Lionesses were able to resist and be dangerous on the counterattack. The first half ended in a goalless draw.
In the second half, the Moroccans opened the scoring through Zineb Redouani in the 45th minute. The Zambians then equalized in the 80th minute thanks to Lushomo Mweemba, but Rosella gave the victory to the Atlas Lionesses in stoppage time.
The return leg will take place next Tuesday, April 9, at 10pm, at the Moulay Hassan stadium in Rabat. The Moroccans, who have taken a good option on qualification, will have to confirm their success in this return leg to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In case of qualification, the Atlas Lionesses will play in group B alongside the United States, Germany and Australia. A tough challenge for the Moroccans, who have never participated in the Olympic Games in women’s football.
