Morocco's Women's Soccer Team Misses Paris 2024 Olympics After Loss to Zambia

The Moroccan women’s football team lost Tuesday’s match against Zambia (0-2), counting for the last round of qualifications for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Moroccan players failed to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Lionesses of the Atlas, deprived of their captain, Ghizlane Chebbak, stumbled against a better organized Zambian team.

The Zambians dominated the first half of the match, which took place Tuesday at the Moulay El Hassan stadium in Rabat, opening the scoring in the 40th minute of play. A goal scored by striker Barbara Banda.

In the second half, the Lionesses of the Atlas were more offensive, but failed to equalize due to lack of precision. The score remained unchanged until extra time where Barbara Banda scored her brace, giving the victory to the Zambians.

After their 2-1 victory in the first leg which took place on Friday, April 5 at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola, the Lionesses of the Atlas lost in the return leg against Zambia (0-2), narrowly missing their qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
