Morocco Urges UN Action as Polisario Plans Congress in Disputed Sahara Region

Morocco has sent an official message to the President of the Security Council and the Secretary General of the United Nations, inviting them to assume their responsibility regarding the organization by the Polisario Front of its 15th congress in the isolated area of Tifariti.
The holding of this assembly by the separatists is contrary to international resolutions, especially in the wake of warnings against terrorist attacks targeting foreigners and Minurso elements in the region.
For the kingdom, this is a provocative act against Morocco and the United Nations, knowing that after an absence of 6 years, the separatists plan to parade near the buffer zone with heavy weapons in order to "ensure the safety of their guests and to guarantee the success of their congress".
For its part, the Polisario believes, through the voice of its "Minister of Defense", that "war remained an imperative" and that "the time was no longer to deal with the United Nations in the same way".
