Morocco’s U17 Women’s Team Dominates Djibouti 7-0 in World Cup Qualifier

The national women’s U17 team won a resounding 7-0 victory over their Djiboutian counterparts on Friday, January 10, as part of the first round of the 2020 India World Cup qualifiers.
Lamia Boumehdi’s players did not have too much trouble before defeating the Djibouti junior national team. The opening goal came as early as the 4th minute thanks to a nice action by Hajar Errakas. Less than a quarter of an hour later, Salma Temmar (17th) found the back of the Djibouti Red Sea Sharks’ net. In turn, Oumaima Heddiya (27th), Hajar Jbilou (44th), Salma Stiten (55th), Khaoula Knia (89th) and Wissal Nassiri (90th) increased the score to 7-0.
After the match, national coach Lamia Boumehdi, recalling the importance of all the matches counting for the U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, said that this victory will give the team confidence for the rest.
According to the Lionesses’ coach, the team has set itself the goal of qualifying for the World Cup. She also expressed optimism about the team’s chances of securing the ticket to the World Cup.
The two national teams will face each other in the return match in Morocco on January 24.
