Algeria Edges Morocco 33-30 in Tense African Handball Championship Match

The Moroccan handball team lost to its Algerian counterpart (30-33) in the North African derby of the African Nations Handball Cup, played on Sunday at the Rades Olympic Hall.
The Atlas Lions in this match largely dominated by the Fennecs of Algeria were unable to get rid of the Algerian selection, even if they were the first to open the scoring, following a well-orchestrated attack by the Moroccan Mohamed Ben Taleb.
Determined to settle the score with the Moroccan 7, the Algerian Mustapha Hadj Sadok, ultimately named man of the match, and his teammates Abderrahim Berriah and Messaoud Berkous regained the lead by putting the protégés of Bouhaddiou in difficulty.
At the end of the first half, Algeria was leading 16-15. The changes made to the national team did not help the coach to achieve the miracle. At the end of the 2nd period, Algeria managed to pull away from Morocco by three goals (30-33) and to win. However, the National team is determined to take up the challenge of qualifying for the 2021 World Cup in Egypt.
Now 2nd in the group, the Atlas Lions will therefore face, in the second round, the first of group C, possibly the defending champion Tunisia.
