Morocco Tourism Unaffected by Tragic Murders of Scandinavian Hikers, Officials Say

"No cancellation of reservations or disruption" has been recorded at the national or regional level, following the double murder that affected the two Scandinavian tourists in the Toubkal region.

This is what the president of the National Federation of Travel Agencies of Morocco (FNAVM), Khalid Benazzouz, just declared to the MAP, who recalled that the Toubkal region is a "very popular and appreciated tourist site" by mountain enthusiasts and that the kingdom "remains nevertheless very sought after and even recommended by the diplomatic representations of several countries, including Norway, Great Britain and Denmark".

However, he called for the mobilization of all sectors to "make known and proclaim very loudly the values of tolerance and hospitality that our country enjoys, which is strong in its recognized stability and security throughout the world".

For his part, the president of the Regional Association of Travel Agencies of Marrakech and Safi (ARAVMS), Taoufik Madih, said that at this end-of-year period, "practically all hotels and Riads are fully booked and all tourism stakeholders are focused on preparations for New Year’s celebrations".
