Morocco Terror Investigation: Five More Arrested in Scandinavian Tourists’ Beheading Case

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) arrested five people on Monday as part of the investigation into the murder of two Scandinavian tourists in the Toubkal region.
No press release from the Ministry of the Interior has been issued to confirm these arrests, but BCIJ director Abdelhak Khiam told AFP that these arrests took place in several cities, bringing their number to 18 since the murder of the two Scandinavians.
"The two victims were stabbed, slit their throats and then beheaded," Khiame specified. The four main suspects had pledged allegiance to the terrorist group Daesh in a video recorded a week before the act.
Louisa Vesterager Jespersen, a 24-year-old Danish student, and her friend Maren Ueland, a 28-year-old Norwegian, were killed in the night of December 16 and 17 near Mount Toubkal.
