Morocco Tourism Revenues Surge as Tourists Outpace MRE Transfers

Tourism revenues surpassed transfers from Moroccans residing abroad during the first half of 2026. The gap, almost nonexistent one year earlier, has now reached 3.4 billion dirhams.

Between January and June 2026, foreign travelers brought 64,898 billion dirhams into Morocco, compared with 56,007 billion during the same period in 2025. Tourism revenues therefore rose by 15.9%, according to the Office des Changes.

In 2025, the two sources of foreign currency were virtually tied: tourism exceeded MRE transfers by only 53 million dirhams.
