Remittances from Moroccans residing abroad continue to grow. By end of May 2026, they exceeded 50 billion dirhams, confirming the still decisive weight of the diaspora in Morocco’s financial balance.

Moroccans residing abroad continue to send more money to the country. According to the latest bulletin of monthly indicators of external trade from the Office of Exchange, MRE transfers reached 50.22 billion dirhams by end of May 2026, compared to 46.16 billion dirhams in the same period of 2025.

The increase stands at 8.8% year-on-year, or 4.06 billion dirhams additional in five months. This level confirms the central place of MREs in Morocco’s foreign currency inflows, alongside tourism, exports and foreign direct investments.
