Morocco Tops Belgian Holiday Travel Destinations as Brussels Airport Expects 824,000 Passengers

Morocco is one of the most popular destinations for Belgians this Christmas holidays. Brussels Airport is expected to welcome some 60,000 passengers on Friday and 824,000 people during the holiday period, traveling in particular to the kingdom.
In total, 824,000 passengers are expected from Friday, December 23 to Sunday, January 8 inclusive at Brussels Airport, compared to 988,000 during the 2019 Christmas holidays, before the health crisis, i.e. a rate of 83%. According to the airport, the most popular destinations are the Canary Islands, Spain, Morocco, Malta, ski resorts like Innsbruck, Salzburg and Kittilä, but also New York, Dubai and South Africa.
Belgian airports have vibrated to the rhythm of cabin crew strikes in recent months. The CGSP socialist union rules out the continuation of social movements and at the same time ensures that leaflets will be distributed at the entrance to the security area "in order to alert passengers to the significant staff shortage, lack of equipment and defective infrastructure".
