Morocco’s Tin Boom: A World-Class Deposit Near Meknes
Chinese group Inner Mongolia Xingye Yinxi Mining has issued $200 million in sustainability-linked bonds to finance its tin mine in Achmmach, near Meknes. The fundraising aims to accelerate the site’s entry into production.
The financial operation, worth approximately 1.83 billion dirhams, represents one of the largest dollar-denominated bond issues by a private Chinese mining company in the past five years. The funds will be allocated exclusively to developing infrastructure and constructing the Achmmach tin deposit.

This strategic project is now entering its effective operating phase following the completion of the engineering plans. Achmmach is considered one of the world’s most significant high-quality tin discoveries, located in an area classified as a “low-risk jurisdiction” by international investors.
The financing follows the Chinese group’s acquisition of Atlantic Tin Ltd in June 2025, a transaction approved by more than 90% of shareholders. Until then, the project was 75% owned by Atlantic Tin, alongside Japan’s Toyota Tsusho (20%) and Nittetsu Mining (5%).

To justify this investment, the group’s management praised the Kingdom’s business climate, stressing that the country offers “a stable political environment and a highly favorable regulatory framework for foreign investment.” Morocco’s geographical position is also considered strategic for facilitating access to global markets.
