Morocco Tightens Vaccine Control: Empty COVID-19 Vials Must Be Returned

The Ministry of Health has required the return of empty vaccine vials. This measure aims to minimize fraud during the Covid-19 vaccination campaign.

This curious initiative should reduce the risk of fraud in the context of the anti-Covid vaccination campaign starting this Friday, reports Assabah. To this end, a special control system for vaccine doses has been put in place by the Ministry of Health, which includes, among other things, the return of empty vials.

To succeed in this challenge, a note has been sent to the various regional directors of Health in order to strengthen control over the doses of vaccines distributed in the centers under their authority. They must also personally control the circuit of returning the empty vials to the pharmaceutical depots in their province. They will then have to transmit them to the central depots. In addition, a traceability system based in particular on acknowledgments of receipt will be put in place.

This note invites the regional managers to strict control of the management of vaccine doses from the reception of the batches allocated to each region. Different types of vials have been received by Morocco, including vials of 10 doses each and 25. According to the same daily, the health professional in charge of administering the vaccine to the citizen will have to use the same vial for several people but with different syringes.

As for the vaccine doses received by the provincial pharmacies, they will be redistributed to the various vaccination centers set up. It should be remembered that each provincial pharmacy has received a determined quantity of doses, calculated according to the number of people to be vaccinated, the health situation prevailing there and the estimates of positive cases in the future.
