Morocco Tightens Travel Restrictions as Delta Variant Spreads in Northern Cities

To block the Delta variant, which is gaining ground in Morocco, the authorities have recommended tightening health measures, including strict compliance with barrier gestures and localized restrictions. Thus, police roadblocks have been set up in the cities of the North.

To this end, the law enforcement and national security elements are mobilized to control the hundreds of Moroccans heading to the seaside resorts for their holidays. Tourists who do not have authorization are fined and forced to pay fines of 300 dirhams.
According to the same source, Tétouan, Tangier, El Ksar Sghir are for the time being under close surveillance. Experts fear that the Delta variant has spread from some epidemiological hotspots like Casablanca and Tangier to other regions.
