Morocco Detects Delta Variant Outbreaks in Casablanca and Kénitra, Raising Concerns

Four outbreaks of contamination with the Indian Delta variant have been detected in Morocco. Three in Casablanca and a fourth in Kénitra.
In Morocco, the epidemiological situation is worrying. Professor Moulay Said Afif, member of the scientific committee, reported that four outbreaks of contamination with the Indian "Delta" variant have been discovered in Morocco. He specified that three of these outbreaks were detected in Casablanca and the fourth in Kénitra.
Faced with the situation, measures have been taken by the Moroccan authorities to contain the circle of contaminations by this variant, "considered more transmissible than the other strains". According to experts, it is transmitted 70% faster than the British variant.
The epidemiological situation seems to be escaping the experts. Morocco has faced a resurgence of Covid-19 cases in recent days. On Thursday, the kingdom recorded 789 cases of contamination and 2 deaths. Given this rather poor assessment, the Ministry of Health called on Moroccans to respect the health measures enacted in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the kingdom. Otherwise, a return to restrictive measures would be considered.
