Morocco Warns of Tighter Restrictions as Delta Variant Spreads to Four Regions

The Indian (Delta) variant of Covid-19 has been raging in Morocco for a few weeks. The Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb, says that dozens of cases have been recorded in four regions of the kingdom. He once again warns Moroccans against a tightening of health measures.
Faced with the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the kingdom (increase in the number of Covid-19 cases of more than 60%), the Minister of Health has issued a new alert. He calls on citizens to strictly comply with the health measures enacted to curb the spread of the coronavirus and its variants.
"Citizens must comply with the restrictive measures. Otherwise, we would be led to take drastic and control measures," warned the Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb, in a statement to the press. He also said that dozens of cases of Covid-19 variants, including 43 Delta variant infections, have been detected in four regions of Morocco. However, he does not specify the regions concerned.
For the minister, the situation is "very worrying". "We cannot remain idle in the face of this relaxation in compliance with these measures. We wanted to ease the restrictions, because it is a period marked by the summer holidays, the return of Moroccans from abroad and the approach of Eid Al-Adha," the minister continued.
"Vaccinated people must also know that failing to reach collective immunity, we are not yet safe from a possible contamination: we can be a carrier of the virus and infect those who are not," warned Khalid Ait Taleb.
