Morocco Tightens Security for National Baccalaureate Exams to Combat Cheating

To prevent any fraud during the baccalaureate exam that started on Monday, the authorities in charge of education have deployed major anti-cheating measures, in all their forms, in order, they say, to guarantee equal opportunities.
Several measures have been taken to avoid fraud during this emblematic exam, which is tainted by cheating every year. Relying on the strict application of the laws relating to the repression of fraud in school exams, the Ministry of National Education has ensured that the conditions of transparency, integrity and equal opportunities will be guaranteed, reports Assabah.
In this sense, "instructions have been given to the various exam supervision devices to strictly apply the laws in force". And any fraud or attempted fraud should immediately be reported by the room supervisors to the heads of the exam centers in order to take the necessary measures, specifies the newspaper.
Among the sanctions, the law provides for "disciplinary sanctions ranging from deprivation of taking the exam for a certain period", but also "criminal penalties ranging from 6 months to 5 years in prison and a fine ranging from 5,000 to 100,000 dirhams". The same criminal penalty applies to accomplices who have contributed to the fraud, even from outside the establishment, recalls the same source.
It should be noted that the normal session of the 2022 unified national baccalaureate exam started on Monday and will continue until this Wednesday.
