Morocco Prepares for 2022 Baccalaureate Exams with COVID-19 Precautions

Everything is ready for the smooth running of the 2022 baccalaureate exams. This is the announcement that Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, will make this Thursday in the Council of Government.

Preventive measures will once again be taken this year to fight the spread of Covid-19. "Everything is practically ready to take the exams under good conditions. The examination centers will define the number of candidates according to their capacity, at the rate of 20 candidates per classroom. The number of candidates per class has certainly increased compared to the two previous years, but vigilance remains essential. It is important not to let our guard down. Physical distancing must be respected as well as all the instructions issued by the health authorities," reports Le Matin, citing a source within the ministry.

According to the same source, "all the candidates who will take the baccalaureate exams this year have received a practical guide. This document, which was sent to them via their email address through their Moutamadriss account, aims to help and guide their preparation efforts for this exam. This guide includes all the organizational and regulatory aspects as well as the novelties of the 2022 session".

A relentless fight will also be waged against cheating. "This is an issue that concerns the officials of the exams every year in order to ensure equal opportunities for the candidates. But it should also concern the families on whom we are counting a lot to raise awareness among their children and remind them of the dangers and risks they may face by cheating. Indeed, a candidate caught in the act of cheating will be severely punished. Moreover, a copy of Law 02.13 relating to the repression of fraud in school exams is sent to all candidates via their email address," notes the same source.

Even if this school year started a month later than expected, arrangements have been made to complete the educational program, despite the teachers’ strikes. "A large-scale school support operation has been initiated for several months at the level of all the Academies with the help of the Parents’ Associations and within the framework of the Awrach program to set up an educational support program for learners," notes the same source.

It should be noted that at the beginning of the Council of Government, the Minister of National Education will give a presentation on the data and novelties of the baccalaureate exams for the 2022 session.
