Morocco Tightens Real Estate Oversight in Tangier Following Témara Scandal

After the real estate scandal in Témara, the regional authorities in the North have taken new measures in the management of urban planning in Tangier.
The scandal of the Al Qods real estate complex in Témara, following which the Ministry of the Interior ordered the demolition of a series of illegally built apartments, continues to provoke reactions not only in Témara, but throughout Morocco.
At the initiative of the Wali of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, Mohamed Mhidia, members of the local authorities in Tangier began on Thursday to strengthen control over residential complexes under construction in Tangier.
More specifically, a form has been distributed to real estate developers and owners of properties under construction, containing information on the real estate properties and copies of building permits in order to verify their validity and compliance with the law.
