Témara Authorities Demolish 34 Buildings with 600 Apartments for Code Violations

The authorities of Témara have just ordered the demolition of 34 buildings containing 600 apartments for non-compliance.
The technical services of the city have been instructed by the authorities to demolish these buildings, after the justice system rejected the appeal of the developer concerned by the case who had requested the suspension of this operation initially decided by a central commission of the Ministry of the Interior, as reported by the daily Al Akhbar.
The demolition operation actually started on Friday and could extend over several days due to technical and security constraints. Despite the strong protests of several people who lived in the slums that had given way to these buildings under construction and of those who had already paid advances to benefit from these housing units, the authorities seem determined to carry out the process to its conclusion.
Certain negligence and anomalies observed in the monitoring of the project implementation have motivated the decision to demolish. Some officials of the city of Témara fear being pointed out for negligence in the implementation of the real estate project, especially since the city was already the subject of several criticisms regarding the application of the regulations in force in urban planning.
