Former PJD Official Questioned in Témara Real Estate Scandal Investigation

The case related to the real estate scandal in Témara is not over. The National Brigade of the Judicial Police of Casablanca has heard several officials from the city, including the former deputy and president of the commune Moh Rejdali.

The Islamist leader was summoned by the BNPJ investigators, like the current president of the commune, Zouhir Zemzam, as witnesses, reports Al Akhbar, noting that in addition to these officials, the interrogation was extended to several local authority agents. Their summons is based on sources close to the case.

According to the daily, the BNPJ is trying to determine the nature of the commune’s intervention in this type of case, the monitoring of the procedures in force, as well as the level of coordination with the representatives of the local authorities. More specifically, the brigade is trying to find out at what level the involvement of the elected councils is in the cases of violations of urban planning laws noted in these projects. It is also a question of defining the nature of the powers of the elected councils in this type of case, particularly with regard to the granting of building and occupancy permits, as well as in terms of control.

This procedure is justified since the communes are among the administrations and institutions visited by the IGAT inspectors as part of the investigation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior, the same source points out, recalling that it follows the interrogation of dozens of officials, heads of departments, divisions and technicians who were responsible for monitoring these construction sites.
