Morocco Evaluates Brazilian KC-390 Military Transport Aircraft for Potential Purchase

With a view to its acquisition by Morocco, an Embraer KC-390 Millennium aircraft, registered PT-ZNG, carried out a test flight in the kingdom last week under the supervision of representatives of the Moroccan air force.
This test flight, carried out on February 24, lasted 57 minutes. The aircraft took off from the Kenitra air base and flew over Rabat and other regions of the center of the kingdom. The operation aims to evaluate the capabilities of this Brazilian-made military transport aircraft with a view to its acquisition by Morocco, we are told.
Morocco has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the Brazilian company Embraer for the purchase of a few units of the KC-390 Millennium. This twin-engine aircraft is intended for strategic transport, air-to-air refueling, medical evacuation and humanitarian support missions. With its great operational capabilities, it could compete with the C-130J Hercules.
This aircraft can carry 26 tons of cargo, including wheeled armored vehicles. In addition, Morocco aims to produce the Embraer KC-390 Millennium locally. Advanced negotiations would be underway with the military branch of Embraer to materialize this project.
