Morocco’s $600 Million Air Force Upgrade: KC-390 Millennium Deal Set to Boost Military Might

Morocco is about to finalize a major military aircraft contract with the Brazilian aerospace company Embraer to acquire KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft.
Morocco’s acquisition of the KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft is about to become a reality. The kingdom is preparing to conclude a contract with the Brazilian manufacturer Embraer. The contract could exceed $600 million and include four to five new aircraft, according to Military Africa, adding that Morocco’s wish is to replace its aging fleet of C-130H transport aircraft, whose performance has deteriorated due to their advanced age. The acquisition of the KC-390 Millennium is expected to contribute to the strengthening of the logistical and air capabilities of the Royal Air Force (RAF).
Designed to meet the strategic needs of the armed forces in terms of transport and rapid intervention, the KC-390 Millennium is characterized by its ability to transport heavy combat vehicles weighing more than 57,000 pounds, as well as a spacious cargo compartment allowing the transport of various equipment. This aircraft is also distinguished by its great operational flexibility, compatible with the requirements of modern wars and diverse missions.
The KC-390 Millennium is currently used by several armies around the world, including those of NATO member countries, such as the Portuguese and Dutch armies, each with five units of this model, as well as the Hungarian army, which has two, according to the manufacturer’s website. Other countries, including South Korea and Austria, also use this aircraft.
