Morocco Suspends Flights to France: Air France Passengers Face Confusion and Cancellations

Air France customers are torn between anger and confusion following the publication of a message on the airline’s website regarding Morocco’s decision to suspend flights with France for two weeks.

"All flights departing from France and destined for Morocco are canceled until December 5, 2021. [...] The flight schedule to Morocco from December 6, 2021 will be communicated later." This message posted on the Air France website seems to contradict the Moroccan decision and is confusing. Many of its customers have bought tickets departing from Morocco and destined for the Hexagon before realizing that they do not have the authorization to leave the territory. In addition, Morocco’s decision to suspend its flights with France for two weeks is still in effect.

"We were misled. We feel the scam. The flight schedule available on the company’s website does not in any way indicate the required conditions to take the flights. I was allowed to buy a ticket for December 6 and I’m not sure I’m one of the people who can benefit from this flight," regrets an Air France customer interviewed by Le360.

"Only Moroccans residing in France, French blocked or residing in Morocco, Moroccans presenting compelling reasons for traveling to France, can take the special flights," explains to Le360 an advisor to the French abroad. The latter took care to specify that the persons concerned must nevertheless approach the general consulates to obtain a special authorization.
