Morocco Struggles to Attract Russian Tourists Amid High Prices and Service Issues

Tuesday 26 November 2019, by Kamal

The weakness of services and the lack of low-cost flights are among the factors that do not encourage Russian tourism in Morocco. The statement by the President of the Russian Union of Tourism summarizes the current crisis in this sector.

"It is vital that the components of the tourism product be in harmony with demand. In addition to cultural, historical and natural assets, suitable logistical solutions are imperative," he said to the Sputnik agency.

According to the Russian expert, the problem of the tourism sector in Morocco lies in the high prices and the poor quality of services, adding that "even Turkey is more attractive in terms of price and service offerings. A trip to the United Arab Emirates is much cheaper. For this reason, the decline in Russian tourism in Morocco is due to strong competition".

However, the expert did not fail to mention the dynamism of Morocco in terms of tourism promotion. "The Moroccan Ministry of Tourism participates in all the fairs in this sector, and organizes promotional trips throughout the country. But the uncomfortable flights and the lack of low-cost flights are the cause of the great shortfall," he argued.
