Morocco Sets Ramadan Start Date for Sunday, March 2

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced that the month of Ramadan will begin on Sunday, March 2, 2025. The observation of the crescent moon, carried out this Friday, February 28, was not conclusive.
After the Al-Maghrib prayer, this Friday, March 29, 1446 of the Hegira, the delegates of the ministry present on the territory, as well as the units of the Royal Armed Forces, did not observe the crescent moon. The ministry’s press release states: "all the delegates of the ministry in the Kingdom and the units of the Royal Armed Forces associated with the observation have confirmed the non-observation of the crescent moon".
The month of Sha’ban will therefore have 30 days. The 1st of Ramadan of the year 1446 of the Hegira will consequently correspond to Sunday, March 2, 2025. This official announcement sets the start date of the sacred month.
Most other countries in the region and Europe will start Ramadan tomorrow, Saturday, March 1.
