Morocco Sets Monthly Social Security Fee for Unregistered Craftsmen at 135 Dirhams

Craftsmen not registered with the tax authorities and who are listed in the National Register of Craftsmen must now pay 135 Dhs per month to benefit from social coverage.

This amount has been set by the government based on the income of professionals and on the basis of a coefficient of 0.75 of the value of the SMIG, specifies a press release from the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and Social Economy, stating that the decree which consecrates it was adopted on Thursday, in the Council of Government.

According to the ministry, this text aims to strengthen the existing regulatory framework for social coverage for taxed craftsmen subject to the simplified accounting regimes, the Unique Professional Contribution (CPU) and the self-entrepreneur.

According to the note, access to health insurance specific to non-taxed craftsmen remains conditional on an update of the status of craftsman and registration in the National Register of Craftsmen.

The monthly contribution payments will be made to the CNSS and its relay points, the ministry said.
