Morocco to Expand Social Protection in Government Council Meeting

The government will meet on Wednesday during a council at which seven draft decrees will be examined, including one on the implementation of the generalization of social protection.
The Delegate Minister to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget, Faouzi Lekjaâ, will present a report on the implementation of this ambitious project, according to a government statement.
Subsequently, the Council will examine six draft decrees, the first of which concerns the implementation of the law relating to the basic compulsory health insurance scheme (AMO) and the law establishing a pension scheme for the categories of professionals, self-employed workers and non-salaried persons engaged in a private activity, while the second completes the annex of the decree adopted for the application of the two aforementioned laws.
The 3rd draft decree is related to the application of these two laws and the application of Article 73 of the General Tax Code applicable to the self-employed, it is specified.
In addition, the 4th and 5th decrees concern the application of the two laws mentioned with regard to persons subject to the single professional contribution scheme, merchants and craftsmen keeping accounts.
Finally, the government council plans to examine a 6th decree on the creation of a Ministerial Commission responsible for steering the reform of the social protection system.
