Morocco Considers Extending State of Health Emergency Amid Insurance Reforms

Under the chairmanship of its head, Aziz Akhannouch, the government is holding its council this Thursday. On the agenda of the work, among other things, a draft decree relating to the extension of the state of health emergency throughout the national territory.
The session will also be devoted to the examination of a draft decree on compulsory basic health insurance and the law instituting a pension scheme for the categories of professionals, self-employed workers and non-salaried persons engaged in a liberal activity, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s department.
This will be followed by the examination of a draft decree applying the two aforementioned laws to taxi drivers holding a professional driver’s card, farmers and artisans not subject to the unified professional contribution regime and the self-employed regime and who do not keep accounts.
Then, the Executive will look into the draft decree, supplementing the decree relating to the powers and organization of the central directorates of the Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries (Department of Agriculture).
Finally, the Council will rule on proposals for appointments to senior positions, in accordance with the provisions of Article 92 of the Constitution.
