Morocco Expands Universal Health Coverage to Self-Employed Workers

From now on, all self-employed workers, even non-salaried persons practicing a liberal profession, will benefit from medical coverage after one month of registration and payment of contributions to the National Social Security Fund (CNSS). Some professionals in this category of workers have already started to benefit from it.
On Monday, at the House of Representatives, the Minister of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform, Mohamed Benchaâboun, responding to questions from parliamentary groups on "the measures taken for the implementation of the project to generalize social protection", recalled that the Council of Government has adopted draft law 98.15 relating to the basic compulsory health insurance scheme (AMO) for self-employed workers and non-salaried persons practicing a liberal activity.
The objective of this draft law is to facilitate the registration and contribution payment procedures, reduce the necessary duration for the start of benefits
