Morocco Set to Launch COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign on December 4

Morocco is in the final preparations before the launch of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19, scheduled to begin on December 4.
The vaccination will take into account from the start, 20% of the population, including health personnel, national security, departments on the front line of the fight against the pandemic and people suffering from chronic diseases, before gradually reaching the announced 80%, informs the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
In this sense, the next two days will be dedicated to the census of eligible and willing people to be vaccinated. Since to have access to the vaccination, one must be a healthy person and the vaccination is optional, contrary to what is spreading here and there. The consenting who will receive the first dose on December 4 will have to receive the second injection after 21 days, that is, during the fourth week of December, specifies the media.
For the beginning, 200,000 vaccinations will be carried out per day, in the 2,889 points set up. Although Morocco already has a significant quantity of vaccines, negotiations are continuing with other pharmaceutical companies to obtain additional doses, in order to complete the vaccination campaign in a record time of 12 weeks, indicates the same source.
However, the rigorous observance of preventive measures must continue, said Professor Mustapha Naji, director of the virology laboratory at the University of Hassan II in Casablanca, confident nevertheless in the effectiveness of the vaccine (given the results of clinical trials), and convinced that only vaccination will be able to put an end to this pandemic, concludes the publication.
