Morocco Set to Launch COVID-19 Vaccination Drive, Aims for 60% Coverage

The Minister of Health announced on Thursday, December 31, the start "in the coming days" of the vaccination campaign. The authority has called on Moroccans to "strictly respect the barrier gestures and measures" during this period.
Speaking to the press, the minister explained that herd immunity could only be achieved once more than 60% of the population is vaccinated.
According to him, there is a period of time between the two vaccine injections against Covid-19, specifying that positive Covid-19 cases recorded during this gap period could be detrimental to the vaccination campaign. "We are counting on national mobilization and the responsibility of everyone for adherence to this nationwide campaign," pleaded Khalid Ait Taleb.
The minister assured that the preparations for the launch of the national vaccination campaign are quite advanced.
