Morocco’s Health Minister Urges Mass Vaccination to Achieve COVID-19 Herd Immunity

Moroccans must get massively vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity and curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is the call launched by the Minister of Health Khalid Ait Taleb.
It is imperative to respect the preventive health measures, especially the wearing of protective masks, distancing, regular hand washing, "until 60% of the population is vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity," said the Minister of Health, during a meeting of the National Technical Vaccination Committee, dedicated to scientific issues in preparation for the first phase of the vaccination campaign.
For Mr. Ait Taleb, it is also important to adapt and improve the vaccination technique, so that it can be applied in the field, recalling that his department has worked in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior, as part of the preparations for the anti-covid-19 vaccination campaign, on the logistical, security and traceability plans.
For his part, the President of the National Technical Vaccination Committee, Moulay Tahar Alaoui, stressed the National Vaccination Program that Morocco has, which is working to strengthen the health of the population and reduce mortality. Addressing the issue of clinical trials, the Professor of Parasitology and Mycology at the Faculty of Medicine in Rabat, Mohammed Lyagoubi, said that in a few weeks the committee will have the preliminary results of the samples taken, on the kinetics of protective antibodies to protect against the virus.
According to Moulay Said Afif, member of the National Technical Vaccination Committee and President of the Moroccan Society of Medical Sciences (SMSM) and the National Federation of Health (FNS), the committee members unanimously stated that the results of the clinical trials prove that the anti-Covid-19 vaccine has no serious side effects, except for the usual effects of any vaccine, such as headaches, redness or body aches. But it is necessary to rigorously follow the observance of preventive measures, they hammered.
