Morocco Set to Ease COVID-19 Restrictions, Extend Business Hours

The Moroccan government should soon announce the easing of the restrictive measures in force since January 13. The decision concerns in particular the extension of the opening hours of shops, cafes and restaurants.
According to a source from the Ministry of Health, the Executive is moving towards the gradual lifting of the curfew, by authorizing catering establishments and shops to remain open until 11 pm.
The new provisions also concern the restrictions imposed on inter-city travel, adds the same source, without specifying the exact nature. Some government members would be in favor of abolishing the derogatory travel certificate.
Drastic health measures, announced at the end of December and eased 3 weeks later, have undermined the activities of cafe owners and restaurateurs. According to the Secretary General of the National Association of Cafes and Restaurants, they were "shocked by this decision".
