Morocco to Ease COVID-19 Restrictions as Vaccination Campaign Progresses

The improvement in the epidemiological situation and the successful progress of the vaccination campaign have led the authorities to consider easing restrictive measures. The adoption of a vaccination booklet for travel between cities and the night curfew will go beyond 11 p.m.
These decisions concern "the curfew time and the authorization to open supermarkets, restaurants and cafes, as well as inter-city travel without authorization". It was taken following the work of the technical and scientific committee, which proceeded to evaluate the spread of the new Covid-19 variants as well as the impact of the national vaccination campaign on the epidemiological situation, according to the daily Al Massae.
This easing, we learn, comes after the improvement of the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom with the decrease in contaminations, cases admitted to intensive care and deaths. This means that the indicators are green, especially after the acceleration of the vaccination pace, which currently affects people aged 40 and over.
According to the committee, the vaccination of the targeted categories has led to a reassuring picture. Thus, the public authorities can also ease the restrictive measures such as travel abroad and the opening of airports, particularly with countries with a stable epidemiological situation.
Furthermore, Al Massae reports that a ministerial commission is studying the adoption of a medical vaccination booklet to allow travel within the Kingdom. But the decision will only be made once people aged 30 and over have been vaccinated as well as the late comers of several age groups who have not yet received their vaccine doses. The same sources point out that the authorities are taking their time in order to ensure the health safety of citizens, especially after the spread of the English and Indian variants of Covid-19.
However, a meeting between the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health is planned, in order to ease the health restrictions in force, knowing that the adoption of a vaccination certificate would only be effective after consultation with the scientific committee in charge of managing the pandemic and the one supervising the vaccination operation.
