Morocco Sees 24% Surge in American Students, Report Shows

American students are increasingly going to Morocco to pursue their studies. This is revealed by a recent report entitled "Open Doors" from the Institute of International Education.
During the 2018/19 academic year, the number of American students in Morocco increased from 1,411 to 1,749. Yet a few years earlier, Morocco was not popular. But the bonds of friendship between the two countries, the performance of the education system and other parameters have tipped the balance. Over the same period, the number of Moroccan students pursuing their studies in the United States increased by 2.6%, from 1,461 to 1,499.
In a statement, the US Ambassador to Morocco indicated that "American students have long considered Morocco an excellent study destination given the hospitality of the Moroccan people, the richness and diversity of Moroccan culture, and the close friendship between the United States and Morocco, forged over more than 200 years." According to David Fischer, "Moroccans in turn believe that the American higher education system offers the best educational opportunities in a range of critical disciplines, from engineering to medicine to the study of the English language," reports the MAP.
For the ambassador, when the two countries overcome Covid-19, educational exchanges between the two countries will resume and even exceed the figures published in the "Open Doors 2020" report.
